Race Day Check List

Now that my race is only a few days (4! Wahoo!!!) away, I've started laying out the things I need.  I like to have things planned out but I'm also super forgetful. Hence list making. Can y'all read over my list and see if I've forgotten anything?

Race clothes
· shoes
· tights
· skirt
· socks
· bra
· shirt
· running jacket
· arm sleeves

Gear
· water bottle
· iPod (charged) & headphones
· Garmin (charged)
· bondi band
· sunglasses
· sunscreen

If you a suggestion for a good sunscreen, I'd appreciate it. I'm not planning on wearing a hat. And all of the sport sunscreens I've tried sweat off and drip into my eyes.

After
· compression leg sleeves
· shirt
· bra
· sweater
· pants
· crocks
· recovery chocolate milk
· PB&J sandwiches

When NOTC hosts a race, you know that there will be beer and food (and plenty of it) at the after  party. But that's not guaranteed at all races. I'm bringing PB&J to be on the safe side.

Music:
My iPod has more than enough music  for me to listen to for the 2.5hrs I'll be running. But I'm always looking for more. Do you have any suggestions of songs for me to add to my playlist? Which songs keep you moving for the distance?

These are my favorite songs to run to! :
Jay Z - Empire State of Mind
Black Eyed Peas - I gotta feeling
Jay Sean - Down
Survivor - Eye of the Tiger
AND MY TWO FAVORITES ARE:
Kings of Leon: Need Somebody and Sex on Fire!!
PS - Thanks for posting your checklist. I need one too! The hotel has a roof-top pool, so you may want to bring something you can take a dip in if you want to take part in the group "ice bath"! (Sounds gross, but will no doubt be fun!)
See you this weekend! Can't wait!

neutrgena ultra sheer dry touch is my fave. It's oil free so you don't feel greasy and it pretty much stays put. Its the only kind i use on my fave and I have very sensitive skin and is doesn't bother me

First of all: good luck!!!! I can't wait to read your recap!!!

What about vaseline or something of the sort to prevent chafing/blisters? And the obvious: bib/timing chip! You don't wanna forget that!

As for sunscreen: all I really wear is the SPF in my Oil of Olay moisturizer. I rarely burn so I don't need anything too heavy.

I've recently gotten stuck on Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" for running. I also like Paramore. I actually brought my ipod in my running belt for my half but never actually used it. I've been on a no music when running outdoors kick lately.

And just to make this comment a little longer, I don't think I ever told you the Mardi Gras giveaway box was awesome!!! My house was probably the only one decorated for Mardi Gras in the whole area and I was sad to take it down!

Hey Meg! Music: Black-eyed Peas, definitely1 :-) And food/replenishment during the run?? I noticed things for after, but I've read glycogen drops after an hour and replacement is good at this point? As a diabetic, every hour is a given, but for 'normal' runners - necessary on smaller scale?? Have fun! I'm so excited for you!!! List looks complete.

I have the same problem w/ sunscreen in my eyes -ugh! I quit putting it on the upper half of my face, and just wearing the brim of my hat lower. I like Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock, with helioplex broad spectrum. Lots of SPF strengths - 55, 85+... I have a few of them for summer running in FL. Also, face versions, but I stay away from the eyes, as i said.

HUGS from Orlando! Rock your race, tomorrow, lady!!

Good luck with your race!

While training for my marathon, my children stayed in the stroller for a 20 mile run!
