February: Update

I know I've been blog slacking. We've been busy this month and it's only going to get worse.

The first weekend of the month we caught a parade, spent some time in the yard, and went for a walk. Three of my most favorite things.

Needed something to do with the coffee cans I've been hording
Decided to turn them into planters for cuttings

Pictures taken from the floats (boats) in the Krewe of Blige in Slidell.

The weekend was Valentine's Day, my dad's birthday, and we had a wedding in Lafayette. Since we would be at the wedding Valentine's evening, I made a special breakfast. Corey gave me two dozen multi-color roses and a box of chocolate. I know it's cliche' but I love roses and chocolate.

Happy Valentine's Day!

One of Corey's friends from high school was married on Saturday. Although this wedding was on Valentine's, it wasn't cheesy. We all had a great time dancing, eating, and drinking. Li was in her element. She could run around like a wild person and dance. And she was allowed to eat two pieces of cake.

This past weekend was the busiest weekend yet. On Friday Li, MM, and I joined the Shuttle Sisters at the zoo. The weather was perfect for walking around the zoo. Mel , Laurin, and Kristy blogged about the trip.

We paraded all day Saturday, all day Sunday, and all day on Tuesday. We had a great time but we're all sooo tired. See my previous post.

Hopefully, I post more in March. But as you can see by my Social Calendar (to the right) March will be every bit as busy as February

Happy Mardi Gras!!!

We've been enjoying the parades.

But parading is hard work

She didn't make it five minutes before she passed out

That's a tired baby

But Totally worth it. Look at all our loot!

Super Bowl Party

Well, it wasn't really much of a party. Corey and I decided this afternoon that have a mini-party at our house. We settled on a menu of nachos, wings, and sweet potato fries. Corey set the TiVo to record the game and started cooking. It wasn't anything fancy. But it was fun drinking beer and watching the commercials.

Mardi Gras Marathon

No sleeping in for me this morning. I got up early to pick up Erin. We were headed out early to go run. We made our way down the Super Dome for the Mardi Gras half marathon/5k. The atmosphere of the morning was very Mardi Gras. A little chilly, excitment, and lots of people milling around.

Erin has been training for a half marathon in Miami
with our Aunt Carolyn. Part of her training Erin is running the Mardi Gras half Marathon. Carolyn is training for the Boston Marathon in April. So on top of the 13.1 miles she ran she ran an additional 3mi this morning. It's quite an accomplishment to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

Erin and Carolyn ran the half marathon. I ran/walked the 5k. At this point in my training, 5k is my limit. I don't know how they do it.
Even though, I do 3+ mi on a regular basis my feet hurt and my right hip hurts. Maybe one day I'll decide to train for a half marathon. We'll see.

As always, I had a little bit of anxiety this morning. Erin assures me this is normal. But I had a good race. Rihanna
Good Girl Gone Bad kept me moving forward. As part of our race package, we got medals and race shirts. Nice! I'm super excited about the shirt. Way more useful than a cotton t-shirt.

Erin right before the finish line. She looks good. Not too tired.
