It's Carnival Time

I'm so excited. It's Mardi Gras season. I love the excitement of a parade, the music, the food and seeing people we only see a parades.

I have been looking for the quintessential Mardi Gras music CD for years. For some reason, this is tough to find. And after much googling, the closest I have come to is
Clarence's Top 40 Mardi Gras Songs List. I don't really agree with all of his selections but its better than nothing.

Also, I have planning (in my head) which parades we'll go to. Although parades haven't started yet, you can celebrate with a King Cake. A few years ago, I stopped at Maurice's Bakery to get a King Cake. There were no more standard King Cakes. But they did have a French King Cake. If you have not a had a French King Cake, you should leave right now and go get one. The cake consists of flaky puff pastry layers with a dense center of almond paste.

The standard King Cakes are as good as any other bakery.

Instant Gratification Scarf

A few months ago, I decided I needed a hobby. I don't have a lot of free time and I've always liked making stuff. So I settled on knitting. It's been fun learning. I even joined a knitting group. Been meaning to bring a camera to take a picture of all the ladies who knit. Hadn't gotten that far yet.

I've finished a couple of projects so far. This is my favorite one yet...

Li wanted me to make her a scarf. During my trip to the Vermilion Bay Yarn Company, I bought some yarn I really liked but each skein didn't have much yardage. I found a pattern on Ravelry.com that would work. It makes the most of a small amount of yarn. They call it the instant gratification scarf. Li's scarf is decent for my first attempt at that stitch.

Happy Birthday Nanny Goat

This past week was my baby sister Erin's Birthday. To celebrate, she and I went to the Wine Institute of New Orleans (W.I.N.O.) for drinks. W.I.N.O. is an interesting place. (Plus you gotta love the name) You get a load card with however much you want, then insert the card into the wine dispenser. The wines are all priced by the ounce, and you can get 1 oz, 2 oz or a full glass. I should have taken note of the wines I like but we were having too much fun.

BTW, This picture is a rare thing. I never let people take a picture of me with a glass in my hand. I don't know why. Its just a weird thing I do.

Solid Food

Now that Mary Margaret is 6mo. its time to feed her solid food. We held out as long as we could but it's time. Some days she not interested at all. Others she's starving and nearly finishes the jar. Sometimes she'll eat off the spoon. Others she'll only eat if I use my finger.

Good to know, MM is as opinionated and strong willed as her sister.

I guess I wasn't doing it right. MM decided to do it herself.

Christmas Photos

I know I've been slacking posting the pictures of Christmas morning.

Li speechless at all the presents Santa brought.

The girls in their Chirstmas jammers.

Opening presents

Li was nice enough to let her sister sit in her new Jeep for a picture.
