Bragging Rights

Sorry. Gotta brag a little bit.

My awesome husband just found out he passed the P.E. exam. Those of you who are engineers know what an outstanding accomplishment this is. He deserves it. He worked really hard.

To my awesome husband (who faithfully reads my blog):
I am so proud of you
Your awesomeness is awesome

Yea! Christmas!

We've been trying hard to get into the Christmas spirit in my house. We put up the Christmas tree last Saturday. Li and MM look at it and talk about the ornaments every day. The tree is one of my most favorite parts of Christmas.

The girls and the tree

I added my Christmas music to my ipod. I have about 8 cds. That's a lot of music that is only listened to for a month of the year. The girls and I have been listening to it in the car everyday. I've been trying to teach Lilly more songs than just Jingle Bells. Li only knows the chorus to Jingle Bells. After the 80th time in a row, it gets old.

This past Saturday we went to Teddy Bear Tea at the Royal Sonesta. Li was phsyced about getting to drink tea. Each kid was given a teddy bear. But of course all the bears look a like. I had to monnogram the bears so we could tell them apart. MM loved hers. Poor bear. He's now a chew toy.

When Santa came in the room, you would have thought the biggest rock star in the whole world was there. The kids were flipping out. I thought there was going to be a little kid riot.

On Sunday we went to see Tuba Christmas at the Miracle On Fulton Street. See the link for an explanation. Our friend Travis was playing his [insert proper tuba-like insturment].

We've been doing all this Christmas-y stuff because I love Christmas. How could I not? My mom love Christmas. Our whole lives she has made a big deal out of it. And I want the same for my girls.

Snowing in NOLA!!!!

I can't believe it. It's actually snowing in New Orleans. It's been 4 years since it snowed in SE Louisiana.

We took a little break this morning from work to go enjoy this rare occasion.

Loosing My Mind

I think I might be going senile. The past few weeks I have been have been losing random things. And I never loose things, ever.

Lilly's dress, gone.
Parts of MM's bottle, missing.
My ipod, no idea.

Then a few days later the misplaced item will turn up in a weird place.

I can't even blame it on the girls. I'm the only one who has touched these things recently. So it has to be me.

Lucky Girl

On a regular basis, I realize I'm lucky. Yesterday was one of those days.

MM was born 5 weeks too early. Corey and I were worried when they told us she had to be born that day. It wasn't time yet. We weren't ready.

When she was born, she only weighed 6lbs. I know 6lbs doesn't sound little but if you're used to 8, 9, 10lbs babies. Six pounds is very little. Right after she was born, they brought her upstairs to the NICU. But because of genetics and the grace of God, she stayed for a very short time.

The NICU at the hospital where she was born had a Christmas party for the babies who stayed with them in the past year. It was a nice event but it was also hard for me to be there. Some of the babies still had obvious health concerns. And one lady had five toddlers. I cannot imagine having five Lilly's.

All of the babies we're given name tags with their birth weight. I was one of the quintuplets name tag. He was 2lbs at birth. Two pounds. We had a hard time finding clothes that fit MM. And she barely fit in the car seat.

On the drive home, I was a little sad. Being around sick babies is upsetting. But it made me think how lucky I am. And, most importantly, I realized that the other mothers feel the same way. Babies, sick or not, are the best thing in the whole world.

MM and I did take our first Christmas photo together. Its not too bad of a pic, except my eyes are closed.

New Resolution

I've made a resolution I've decided to be a better friend. My whole life I've not been good at keeping up with people. I have a good role model to mimic. My friend Melanie. She hangs out with a large group of her friends from high school on a regular basis. Not to mention all the college and work friends she keeps up with.

That's all going change now. I'm going to start calling and emailing the people I care about more. So to all of you who I have let our friendship lapse, get ready. You're gonna start hearing from me more often.

Although, its unlikely they'll read this. The only people who even know I have a blog are the friends I talk to on a daily basis.

Li's First Haircut

My oldest daughter, Li, was born with lots of hair. But thanks to my husbands genes, she lost it all. It took two years for it to grow back. Now she has beautiful blonde curls. Because it took sooo long to grow back, we had yet to get her hair cut.

As you may or may not know, Corey's dad has always cut his hair. We wanted Li's first official trim to be done by her PawPaw. But Li did not want to do it and in true Li style, she fought us the whole time. See the picture. It sums up the whole episode.
