Last spring, when the seasons changed, I bought my first running skirt. I love it. It's so freeing. And I decided I only race in a skirt. And it is HOT in NOLA in the summer. I like to wear as little clothing as possible. Well, it's not hot right now. But I am racing.
I wanted a new skirt for this race season. I decided to treat myself to the Wavelength Skort from Athleta I've been eying.
What Athleta says: Your favorite board short is now a skort. This semi-fitted skort has breathable, wicking performance fabric construction that makes it perfect for running, beach volleyball, or just chilling on the strand. Pull-on design features elastic waist with internal drawstring for a secure fit, a PowerMesh inner short with gusset, a rear zip pocket, and a reflective logo.
What I Think: I love it. I've taken this baby out on an 12miler without issue with running tights underneath. There was no riding up or bunching. It'll be great in the summer too. The under shorts are made of a light weight, perforated material. I'm impressed with the construction of this skort. Sometimes the light weight material can be poorly made. The drawstring is a fabulous idea. I have an extreme hourglass figure. I often have to go up a size to accommodated legs & booty but then the waist is too big. When you run in a skirt where the waist is too big, it feels like the people behind you can see hiney crack. Also, I like the length of this skirt. I don't feel I need to cover it up to go run around town before or after a run. The only negative thing I have to say about it is the undershorts are a little tight. But again, it's more likely my thighs and not the shorts. I definitely recommend this skort.
I have tried a few other brands of skirts/skorts that I like. But because I was(am) loosing weight, I didn't have the best fit. I didn't review them hear because I didn't want to say anything negative that may not be the skorts fault. Now that I'm no longer between sizes I'm going to replace them and review them as the spring and summer wear on.

Look at you looking all sassy in your running skirt! It looks adorable!
Cute skirt! I've got 2 skirts from Athleta that I adore. I've never gotten anything there I didn't love.
Hey that is so funny, b/c I just 'modeled' that same skirt when I helped out with a presentation at GAP...and I LOVE it!and I'm seriously thinking of figuring out a way to do a giveaway for athleta stuff;-)...
Thanks for posting this, I didn't realize Athleta had running skirts. I'm a huge fan of skirts so I will definitely be trying one of these.
I keep eying running skorts, but I don't have one yet. Shorts tend to ride up and bunch funny on me and I've been afraid of skorts. You're making me think I should try this one!
Also, re: saving money to travel to a race. Worth it. Totally worth it. ;) Even if it means I don't currently have the money to buy said running skort...
